PostgreSQL powers everything from startups to enterprise platforms, but most of the people who own the data are not SQL experts. Workbook Connect exposes your tables inside Excel, so anyone can read and update records without writing a single query.

Works with managed and self-hosted Postgres

Whether you run Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, Supabase, or your own server, the connection is the same: sign in with a database role, over SSL, and Workbook Connect respects the privileges that role already has. Tables the role cannot see never show up, and writes go straight to the database, never around it.

Every commit is one transaction

PostgreSQL enforces its constraints and runs real transactions, and Workbook Connect leans on both. A commit applies every changed row inside a single transaction, so either all of it lands or none of it does. Identity and generated columns stay read-only, blank cells on columns with a default let the server fill them in, and a row that someone else changed in the meantime is reported as a conflict instead of being overwritten.

No more export, edit, re-import

Forget the cycle of dumping to CSV, editing locally, and loading it back. Workbook Connect reads and writes directly to PostgreSQL, so the data you see in Excel is always the data in your database.

Any PostgreSQL server you can reach over the network: self-hosted on a VM or in Docker, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS and Aurora, Supabase, Neon, and other managed services. Workbook Connect speaks the native PostgreSQL protocol, so it does not depend on a particular host.

With a PostgreSQL role and password. On Azure Database for PostgreSQL you can also paste a Microsoft Entra access token into the password field. Connections use SSL with certificate verification by default.

No. The PostgreSQL driver ships inside Workbook Connect, so there is nothing extra to install or keep in step with your Office version.

Nothing is written. Every commit runs as one PostgreSQL transaction, so if the database rejects any row the whole batch is rolled back and your edits stay on the sheet for you to correct.

Each update and delete is matched on the row's primary key. If another user changed or removed that row since you loaded it, Workbook Connect reports a conflict and asks you to refresh rather than overwriting their work.
